Pack 996 History

old-scouts

Pack 996 is a relatively new pack just for students in grades one through five at Quail Run Elementary starting in June 2012. Pack 996 is an offshoot of Pack 995 which formerly served Hidden Hills, Live Oak, and Quail Run Elementary Schools. Pack 995 was started with just a few scouts at Hidden Hills in 2007 and has grown to an incredible 140 scouts from the three elementary schools mentioned above. Due to the tremendous interest in scouting in the Dougherty Valley, the Pack 995 leadership decided it was time to break into smaller packs and form one at each elementary school it was serving.

Three dens from Pack 995 moved over to start Pack 996. The leaders of those three dens have graciously committed to getting the new pack up and running. Ronnie Payne took over the pack and committed to the success of the program for the scouts as well as for the leadership growth. Pack 996 has now grown into a big pack, with the support of the volunteers from the 90+ families every year.
